What Does Your Print Vendor Really Want You to Know About Print?

At Suttle-Straus, a majority of our team members have been in the print industry for several years. In that time, they’ve seen advances in print, trends come and go, and projects get more and more unique as they compete in a heavily saturated marketplace.

To share their collective knowledge, we asked our employees a series of questions to get their thoughts on the industry, their role in printing, the future of print, and more, and produced an eBook that showcases those answers. Here, we share the answers to the question, “What is one thing you wish customers knew more about print?”

"How to provide production-ready PDFs. This would save time, money and risk." – Brett Donelan, Pre-Media Manager

"That print is much more than standing near a machine and pushing a button." – Doug Maurer, Distribution/Fulfillment Manager

"I think our customers are pretty well educated. They often have a vision and it’s our job to make it a reality." – Brett Keene, Director of Operations

"You can make a glossy sheet dull, but you can’t make a dull sheet glossy." – Karen Wenning, Sales Representative

"The choices customers make in how they create their file affect the choices they have all the way down the line." – Ron Sweeney, Client Services Representative

"How valuable print still is – even to the millennial. Statistics prove that people still prefer to buy based on a physical piece, and as a millennial, I’d have to agree with this!" – Christine Edgren, Senior Graphic Designer and Social Media Specialist

"Projects that are not machinable are finished by our dedicated hand assembly workers. Many of the projects can take hundreds of hours for a unique, personal touch." – Ellen Schlee, Hand Assembly Manager

"Different papers have different levels of whiteness/brightness and the paper you choose will affect color. White is not white." – Eddie Mason, Art Director
