Suttle-Straus, a commercial printer and marketing services provider in Waunakee, donated 645 pounds of food and $6,799 in cash to the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin this month as part of the NBC15 Share Your Holidays to eliminate hunger campaign. With one pound equaling one meal and $1 equaling three meals, this donation equals 21,042 meals for families facing hunger in our area.
The company’s Wellness Advocates led the charge to top the previous year’s donations of 18,000+ meals. The company was split into departmental teams, creating some healthy competition to see who could donate the most.
Team leaders had very unique ideas for promoting the food drive, including the selling of coffee, donuts, muffins, hot cocoa, BBQ sandwiches, pies, trail mix, sweet desserts and salty snacks, nachos, and homemade soup to raise money for their teams.
“Our company values at Suttle-Straus include creativity and teamwork, and these qualities shine through in every activity our team members participate in,” said Ted Straus, President and CEO. “I could not be prouder of what our employees were able to accomplish for this year’s holiday donation drive.”
Donations like these help ease the pain of hunger in Southern Wisconsin through food pantries, shelters and meal sites. Additional food donations may be dropped off to Second Harvest at 2802 Dairy Drive in Madison between 8 am and 4 pm or you can donate money online at www.secondharvestmadison.org.
